I have chills running my body right now - I’m talkin’ about some serious electricity!
For me chills are a form of confirmation that comes often when I’m in a session; a reading or guide-dance counseling session (tm)* where I am holding space for spirit to come through. I call it the chills-confirm.
And wow on that fact because isn’t the body just a fancy antennae and we are all transistors? What creates this surge? And isn’t it just beyond when you and I both get it…we both have the same feeling in our bodies, even if we’re 6000 miles apart. Maybe I’m telling you a story, or you’re sharing some bit of outrageous detail about the reading you just did (I’m looking at you Sarah R!) and we both go. ‘Oohhhh, chillls’ and maybe even shudder a bit. Think about it for a second, that is insanely cool.
In Hawai’i one says ‘chicken skin’ - which is accurate, it’s all the little hairs sticking up, like a plucked chicken. And there are so many dang chickens around here, it’s only fair that we are always talking about them.
But back to the electricity. It’s “CHILLS and they are multiplyin!” I don’t mean to distract y’all but can we have a minute with this song? And the scene. SO good.
I got chills, they're multiplying
And I'm losing control
'Cause the power you're supplying
It's electrifying (electrifying)
Because, wait a minute, how does this even work? A physical sensation is happening to both of us at the exact same moment, un-prompted, maybe un-desired by both of us. WHAT IS THAT?
And why right now? (and it is still going btw) it’s because I typed the words above, the name of this post. Clear eyes, Full Hearts - Can’t lose!
I believe it’s because it ignites some kind of spiritual YES some kind of juiced response in my little body, it’s a mix of joy and wow and there is finally something GOOD happening. That ignition is electricity, and that is magic.
Or to say it in a non-Jane chat-gtp way…
The physical sensations of chills might include tingling on your skin, a sudden sense of euphoria, or the hair on your arms standing up. These sensations are often accompanied by an emotional or cognitive recognition that something powerful, beautiful, or extraordinary is happening.
And today they were instigated by that little battle cry that the teenage boys have before they go into a game and fight their little hearts out, churn their strong legs, sweat, cry and pray - while on the sidelines (and behind our TV screens) we bite nails and watch and hope they’ll pull it out in the last quarter or last 15 seconds. (spoiler, they often do).
I mentioned Friday Night Lights last week in a passing you gotta watch way and what has happened in the ensuing days is that we finished the series, watched the last episode of season 5 and to be honest, I’m devastated. I can’t believe it’s over! (sob!)
And this is our second time through, I think we watched it in like 2017 or so but weirdly forgot a lot of it, like really forgot it - which was good cause then we got to fall in love all over again. And it was made in the late aughts like 2007-10 or so, and it holds up perfectly.
And it’s the most genius series I’ve ever seen. Like ever.
It kicks Ted' Lasso’s ass twice, way better than Stranger Things, I can’t finish Breaking Bad cause it’s so dark and I know, I know I didn’t watch Game of Thrones so I don’t really get to say but if you loved The Queen and wished it wasn’t quite so dour but thought the filmmaking was genius I say to you - this is better. It’s better.
And I freakin’ hate football! I promise you, I hate it. So for me to sit here and tell you that the best show ever made is a football show set in Texas is shocking. But, it’s true.
All of the characters are beautifully flawed. Yet they have amazing hearts, like ahhhhhh so good these hearts, and are doing their best (who does that anymore?), often making a mess of it. And we get to cheer for them as they fail, or as they show up in ways that make so much sense. OH! I can’t even, it’s so good y’all!
Also! Tami Taylor has big hair and says ‘y’all’ a lot and I want to be her when I grow up. Twice my son has said “That was very Tami Taylor of you” and I promised to make him cookies for sayin’ it.
And so how do you explain the chills then? If we are all made of water it follows that we do a great job of conducting electricity. And so that electricity pumps up to a place where it lifts the skin on our bodies, there’s science here. but also? Magic. Cause it’s just the energy that needs a place to gooooooo and it might as well be us.
More importantly, you’ve only got a few weeks before it goes off Netflix, so you’re gonna have to start bingeing hard. But it’s worth it y’all, you’ll thank me later.
Clear eyes, full hearts…..
I participated in a study on chills! It was amazing and you can read more about it here: https://advancedconsciousness.org/blog/
We are, indeed antennae and transmitters! The pineal gland, in the center of our brains crystallizes as we age. 😍
